Children across America are expected to consistently attend school ready to learn, however, this is impacted when students do not have quality teachers.
Children are constantly told that they should be stress free because they do not have real life responsibilities yet, but what most people do not realize is that they do. Kids have to wake up early every morning and go to school for 8 hours, 5 days a week. On top of that, they have to deal with apathetic teachers.
“A dispassionate teacher fails to inspire and engage students. Without enthusiasm for their subject, students are unlikely to develop a genuine interest in learning.” According to Eduscries.
Students deserve the right to education because without it our Nation is bound to fail. Without educated citizens, how will people contribute to society?
A bad teacher can stunt a student’s creativity and likeness of school. Instead of students going to school to learn, they feel as though they are there by force and learn nothing. Kids should not have negative feelings about school because of the people who are designed to protect and provide them with knowledge.
MHS student, Rayne Slaughter, expresses her thoughts on the topic.
“I have had a bad teacher-like, I didn’t want to go to class. I would ask my mom to stay home more, especially if I knew if I was starting with that period-especially if my grade was bad in the class-I would make it worse and stay home.” Slaughter stated when I asked how having a bad teacher impacted her.
According to Slaughter, not even having close friends in school could help her overcome her teacher.
Student, Kaci Thomas also provides her insight.
“I think having a good teacher makes me excited for the class. Like it makes me want to learn more and I think having specifically good science teachers made me realize that I wanted to go into a career of STEM.” Thomas vocalized.
Thomas also stated that during her freshman year when she had a bad teacher she would skip their class.
Students deserve to feel safe at school and have good teachers which can happen as proven by Kaci Thomas, to achieve this we just need teaching reform.
Thanks to these teachers for making an impact on the student body.
