Collection of aircrafts fall from the sky as a result of defunding and unemployment in the Federal Aviation Association (FAA).
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), there have been around 96 aviation crashes in the United States. Locations include Arizona, D.C, Minneapolis, and even Texas.
The Trump administration urges to fire all those who have ‘critical safety’ positions therefore leading to an elimination of FAA jobs which had direct roles in supporting safety inspectors, airport operations, and or mechanic jobs.
The FAA union represented all the people that lost their jobs and they spoke out publicly in their opposition of the decision Trump has made. According to the AP wire, about 400 personnel were let go on.
Charles Spitzer-Stadlander, a former employee who was fired claims, “This is about protecting national security, and I’m scared to death,”.
He continues, “And the American public should be scared too.”
As a result of this unemployment, fatal aircraft accidents have been increasing since the start of the new year. According to the FAA accident and incident data, in 2024 only 19 fatal crashes in January were announced and 12 in February while in 2025, 63 total crashes have occurred in January and 36 in February.
With the total number of crashes already into the new year, we can’t help but wonder what is next. The connection between the aircraft crashes and the Trump administration’s plan for air traffic control may be jarring for some, leaving the question is it all a coincidence?
