Loud bangs rang around Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Downtown Dallas during Day one of the National Cheer Association (NCA) All-Star championship.
Police responded to reports of loud gunshots near the area causing parents and cheerleading teams to erupt into panic and confusion. Dallas law enforcement reported back to The Dallas Morning News that a fight broke out between adults which led to multiple poles falling causing the loud crashes. This led people to leave in a rush.
Confusion surfaced as the question if an active shooter had been near the premises. Although false, it was overall an altercation that led to widespread trauma.
Dallas law enforcement also went on to state about 10 non life threatening injuries occurred which led them to go to four different hospitals.
This incident caused the competition to be cancelled and left everyone running out creating a stampede. Videos created and posted on the social media platform Tiktok were going viral for the alarming audios of the bangs. Others commented stating it sounded just like a gunshot and people traumatized by the overall shock of the loud sound which, from their knowledge, could’ve been an active shooter at the convention center.
The competition was expected to continue on Sunday in an attempt to make it fair for all the teams to compete.
Although no arrests were made that we know of, what we do know is that this incident is under investigation and will be solved in a timely manner.
