Manchester High School’s Marching Band had one of their biggest wins yet against Naugatuck last weekend.
One of the many things MHS is known for is their array of extracurricular opportunities in music. Our marching band is a huge contribution to making our performing arts department amazing. Last weekend, they won their first competition of the year.
Marco Cancellieri, the lead instructor of the marching band, couldn’t be happier with this win. He shares, “our spirits are definitely raised, it is our first big win in a long time.”
Cancellieri also shared they have a state wide competition in the following weeks, hopeful that “ [this] win will raise our confidence for the upcoming competition.”
Jordan Carter, a member of the marching band, shares Cancelleri’s excitement, expanding on all of the work they put in behind the scenes.
“It is a lot of work. I have practice for a couple of hours almost everyday after school” Carter shares.
Both Cancellieri and Carter are happy to see their work pay off with a big win. If you see a member of the marching band in the hall, make sure to congratulate them and wish them luck for their upcoming competition!
